Wage & Pay

New Pay Rates, Award Changes and Underpayment Risk

Jade Meredith

From 1 July, updated minimum wages and award rates come into effect across Australian payroll. While most employers will adjust rates, the real risk sits in how those changes are applied in practice.

Misaligned classifications, allowances, and payroll settings are where underpayments typically arise.

This session will walk through what is changing, where businesses are getting caught out, and what to check to stay compliant.

In just 60 minutes:

  • What’s changing with minimum wages and modern awards from 1 July
  • How these updates impact classifications, allowances and pay calculations
  • Where underpayments most commonly arise during rate changes
  • What to review across payroll, contracts and systems
  • Practical checks you can run before and after your first July pay run

Please note that this is general information and not intended to replace legal advice under any circumstances.
