Introduction
Vets for Pets is a family-owned veterinary service provider operating across three locations in southwest Sydney.
As the business expanded, Practice Manager Mudher Al-Rahmani faced the growing challenge of managing HR and WHS compliance across multiple locations. Looking for greater support and peace of mind, Vets for Pets turned to Peninsula.
The Situation
As Vets for Pets grew across its three locations, so did the complexity of managing its workforce. With between 15 and 20 team members, including veterinarians, veterinary nurses, call centre staff and customer care employees, Practice Manager Mudher Al-Rahmani was responsible for overseeing a wide range of HR and workplace health and safety matters.
Without dedicated HR support, Mudher often found himself carrying that responsibility alone. Questions around contracts, compliance and employment law were not only time-consuming to manage but also a constant source of concern. He wanted to ensure the business was meeting its obligations and that the right processes were in place, but as workplace matters became more complex, the pressure began to take its toll. Mudher often worried about what may have been overlooked, and the uncertainty left him with little peace of mind.
The Solution
Once Peninsula came on board, the pressure that had been weighing on Mudher began to ease.
For Mudher, one of the biggest changes was knowing he no longer had to find the answers on his own. Whether he had a question about employee contracts, leave entitlements, workplace obligations or a complex employee matter, specialist advice was always just a phone call away.
Peninsula helped him navigate sensitive employee issues, workplace obligations and compliance requirements, while providing practical guidance every step of the way.
Peninsula also introduced Vets for Pets to BrightHR, providing one central place to store employee records, contracts and workplace documents, making day-to-day administration more efficient.
Over time, what had once been a source of stress became much easier to manage. With Peninsula's support behind him, Mudher could focus less on worrying about HR and WHS compliance and more on supporting his team and growing the business.
"The 24/7 advice line is one of the best parts of the service. Sometimes, if a matter is highly confidential, you can't really discuss it from the clinic. I can easily take it home, call them at eight or nine o'clock at night, and speak with someone whenever I need to. The people who answer those calls are always very supportive. They work with us not only in the best interests of the business but also in the best interests of our staff."
What Happened Next
Today, Vets for Pets has greater confidence in its HR processes, employment documentation and health & safety obligations.
Instead of worrying about contracts and employee matters, Mudher can focus on supporting the team and delivering quality care to clients and their pets.
As Vets for Pets continues to grow, Peninsula remains a trusted partner, helping the business support its people, navigate workplace challenges and focus on what it does best – caring for pets and the people who love them.
"Compared to having our own HR department, Peninsula is definitely a more affordable service. We feel supported, protected, and confident that we're always compliant. Would I recommend Peninsula? One hundred percent. With Peninsula, we’re building a better business."
